The 42nd annual Lakeside Festival at the Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake will have “something for everyone,” including performers from various genres of live music, carnival rides and a wide variety of local food vendors, a said a Dole official.
The four-day event, which begins June 30, will feature 15 bands on two outdoor stages, many of which cover bands from rock legends such as Tom Petty or Queen, said Erin McElroy, head of relations. Thursday night will kick off with Waukesha-based rock band, the BoDeans.
“There’s great music playing every night, and we’re always proud to offer a taste of Crystal Lake with food,” McElroy said. “On a hot summer night, we love that you can come to the lakeside festival and support local businesses.”
Activities during the festival include a baggo tournament and, for children, an ice cream eating contest, face painting, balloon tornado, stilt walk, team mascots and a magician.
The annual festival is Dole’s biggest fundraiser, McElroy said. New for this year is that guests can purchase general admission tickets online in advance, avoiding queues at the box office during the festival.
The festival is always looking for volunteers, McElroy said. Those who volunteer can get a t-shirt, free admission on the day they volunteer, and drink tickets, McElroy said.
“Our volunteers are what makes this special,” McElroy said. “Each year, this event is produced by and for the community.
The Lakeside Festival will take place from June 30 to July 3 at the Dole Mansion and Lakeside Arts Park, 401 Country Club Road, Crystal Lake. Hours are 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on June 30, noon to 11 p.m. on July 1 and 2, and noon to 10 p.m. on July 3.
