Ruler Of The World: Traveling Again

Coolmore

Italian breeding has received a fascinating addition to its ranks with the news that the 2013 Derby winner Ruler Of The World will be standing next year.

Galileo’s son will be led by the partnership of the President of the Italian Thoroughbred Breeders Association Mattia Cadrobbi, Marco Bozzi and Guido Berardelli, and will head to the Allevamenti della Berardenga, or Scuderia Andy Capp, near Siena in Tuscany .

The brilliant chestnut Ruler Of The World burst onto the scene fairly quickly, making a winning debut at the age of three at the Curragh in April and earning Epsom fame for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore in their third departure only. He then finished third for Farhh in the Champion Stakes at Ascot.

At the age of four, he entered co-ownership between Al Shaqab Racing and the Coolmore partners, adding the Prix Foy to his collection in September.

He joined stud at Coolmore, spent five seasons in Ireland but spent his last two years at Haras de Bouquetot in Al Shaqab, most recently for a fee of € 5,000 which will remain the same in his new home.

“This is great news for Italy and it’s with the same crowd as Magician last year,” said Bozzi, a blood agent.

“Magician is going back to Ireland, he has bred 140 mares this year so we are very happy. We now have Ruler Of The World, who is a good sire and has already sired a Group 1 winner in Iridessa.”

Iridessa proved to be a surprise and welcome arrival for Ruler Of The World, which had a fairly small crop of Coolmore and only 19 two-year-olds represented it this year.

Joseph O’Brien’s filly gave his father a first Group 1 victory in the Fillies ‘Mile of 2018 and landed three more in the Pretty Polly, Matron and finally on her swansong in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

He had even more joy this season with La Petite Coco, coached by Paddy Twomey, who continued his extraordinary rise through the ranks by winning the Group 2 Blandford Stakes at Curragh last weekend.

In addition to the Magician of the Irish Guineas and the Breeders’ Cup Turf, the stud has also supported high level veteran, Desert Prince.
